The “Shadow of the Beast,” manuscript is being edited, but pre-orders will be announced as soon as they become available. Here’s a trailer to whet your appetite.
What happens when twins with magical potential are born conjoined at the soul? The one with power is stillborn, and the one without power lives, forever to be haunted with his brother’s ghastly potential.
He is Maret Beorn, son of the ruling family of Telmut, shunned because of the creepy imaginary friend that others don’t believe in. An attempt at ghostly possession shocks the family into acknowledgement. They must decide how to handle a spirit who would have been a mage. Do they exorcise him or teach him to be a benefit to the barony? How do they prevent darker forces from luring Maret or the ghost into using their untold powers for a nefarious purpose? Are there any failsafes they can use to prevent chaos when it all goes inevitably wrong?
Book one is an introspective take on swords and sorcery. The characters drive the story and make decisions for good or ill, changing themselves and changing the world.
The World of Deyvos
The world’s magical resources are in decline. Most countries attempt to preserve what’s left by converting from magical to mechanical means. However, all have a different belief system and dependence.
The Alvan Territories mine the earth for pools or rock fissures of magic they believe are collected energies from the might of their goddess. The past five hundred years have greatly depleted those resources, for the old days when magi fought each other kingdom for kingdom are not long past. They harness the resources into tools, though these artifacts are growing more costly. The Ertenvaalans practice ancestor worship and apply the guidance of those who came before to the difficulties that will come. The Scarpans practice formulaic necromancy to forge life force into useful objects, and on a greater scale, use living sacrifices to survive in the inhospitable desert.
Yet one and all will feel the quake of the curse spreading from Telmut. The doom on the horizon, rising like a black cloud.
